Made in North Carolina
Made safe for baby with light-weight and completely breathable 100% organic pima cotton, fitted lining and adjustable top-knot.
The Downtime Sleepy hat blocks out light and visual stimulation to help your baby fall asleep and/or have uninterrupted, restful naps when it otherwise would be difficult to do so.
For humans, including babies, light signals time to be awake and long, restful sleep occurs in the dark. Adults have had sleep masks for years. Now offer the same, soothing comfort to baby with the mom-invented Downtime Sleepy hat.
There are (at least) two ways to use the Sleepy hat, depending on whether your baby likes or dislikes hats.
My baby likes (or doesn't mind) hats: Use the Sleepy hat to help your baby fall asleep and have deep, restful sleep.
My baby dislikes hats: Gently place the Sleepy hat on baby after she has fallen asleep. The Sleepy hat may not work to help your baby fall asleep, but it will still give her the benefit of a deep, restful sleep due to the dark environment it creates. In many cases, you will be able to prevent immature waking and lengthen baby's naps by using the Downtime Sleepy hat.
The "How To's"
1. Position the hat at the back base of baby's neck. While facing your baby, grasp the mask portion of the hat and gently pull the hat forward. Baby will naturally press his head backward against your motion and the hat will easily slip over his head.
2. While still grasping the mask, flip the mask up. This is the awake mode and the hat can be used as a regular baby hat.
3. When it is obvious that baby is tired and ready for sleep, but visual stimuli prevents her from closing her eyes, flip the mask down into sleep mode. Use in conjunction with baby's regular naptime or bedtime routine, not as a substitute for that routine.
4. If baby protests, he may not yet be ready. Simply flip the mask up and try again later. If he repeatedly tries to take off the hat, you could try to gently hold his hands while soothing him to sleep. Of course, do not be too forceful or baby will not develop positive associations with the hat. Remove the hat and reapply once baby is asleep to help him get that deep, restful sleep that only darkness can provide.
Q & A
Q. Is the Sleepy hat safe? I'm afraid that it might fall down over my baby's mouth and nose.
A. The Sleepy Hat was designed with safety in mind. It has a fitted lining and adjustable top-knot so that you can be rest assured that the hat won't fall over baby's mouth. Furthermore, the hat is manufactured strictly from breathable fabrics only so that your baby's ability to breathe is never in jeopardy. To test for yourself how well the Sleepy hat breathes, hold the hat against your nose and/or mouth and notice how breath flows easily through the fabric.
Q. Where are Downtime Sleepy Hats made?
A. They are manufactured in Brooklyn, New York. This product is entirely made in USA.
Q. How do I wash my Sleepy Hat?
A. Sleepy Hats should be hand washed in cold water and laid flat to dry. Low iron if needed. Do not bleach and do not dry-clean.
